Breast Lift
During the surgery the surgeons remove excess skin and
tighten, the surgeon will discuss desired outcomes and wether fullness of the
breast will be achieved. The breast fat is removed and nipples are re
positioned higher to the chest wall.
Sometimes breast implants are also used when little fullness
to breasts can be achieves with only a breast lift, if you decide to have
implants they are usually placed directly under the breast tissue or chest
muscle.
Post operative
When waking from surgery you will be wrapped in bandages and a small tube maybe be placed to drain blood and fluid for the first day or two. Swelling and bruising vary from person to person however ice packs with relieve swelling and discomfort. A couple of days after surgery the bandages will be removed and surgical bra must be work for up to 6 weeks after surgery – time frame will be determined by surgeon Usually sutures will be removed within the first week if the skin is kept dry after surgery.
What is the recovery time?
Recovery is usually around 2 weeks however most are back to work within 3 weeks, mild exercise can usually be resumed after this time, however would be discussed with patient.
Risks and complications
Risks are inherent to any procedure the most common is swelling, bruising, numbness and infection or change in sensation to nipple. The most common risk assorted with this procedure is damage to never and blood supply of the nipple in some cases this can lead to loss of sensation of the nipple.
Can I breast feed after a breast lift?
A breast lift will not prevent you from breast feeding in future Scar will fade but nipple numbness may take up to 12 months before sensation returns.
